Permeable tree surrounds with resin

The cement can be replaced by resin in the permeable tree surrounding mixture. These resins are mixed with our aggregate “ORGACOLOR” in order to obtain a very hard and long lasting surface. The polyurethane resins PU R 183 and PU R 181 are liquid and ready to use. They don’t require mixing of hardener or thinner.

The characteristics of the surroundings with resin are comparable to those of cement particularly in terms of draining performances. However, its implementation is different. The resin allows chips to keep their color and look shinier. Unlike cement, resins can include colorized wood chips in order to give a more modern look to the surrounding.

Use :

Under the tree, it forms a flat and sturdy surface.
Benefit from the draining properties of the mixture.
Tree surround on sidewalks, traffic islands, squares, roundabouts, schoolyards
The resin is mixed with ORGACOLOR in order to obtain a very hard and long lasting surface while allowing a maximum permeability.
The polyurethane resins PU R 183 and PU R 181 are ready to use and don’t require mixing of hardener or thinner.
The resin settles thanks to a reaction called polymerization.
The resin is incompatible with water (rain or humid aggregate).

PU R 183 or PU R 181, How to choose a resin?

Choose PU R 181 for white and light colored aggregates. This resin is able to faithfully keep the original color of the aggregate.

Choose PU R 183 for dark aggregates.

The resins are also sold separately in order to use gravels instead of wood chips.

Recommendations :

1- Dry weather and a temperature equal or greater than 12°C (the higher the temperature is, the more fluid the resin will be)

2- Take precautionary measure (work clothes, leather gloves)

3- Only use ORGACOLOR sold in 50 liters bags to be sure to have a non-humid aggregate.

Mixture :

IMPORTANT : Respect the percentage of resin.

ORGACOLOR : 1 volume of resin poured onto 10 volumes of vibrated wood chips (or 12 volumes if not vibrated)
Mineral aggregate : 3% to 5% of the aggregate’s weight according to their porosity and size. Always use a container (wheelbarrow, plastic container,…) with a capacity of at least twice the volume of the aggregate. Mix with a toothed tool.

Implementation :

1- Pour the mixture according to the thickness desired when all the aggregates shine evenly.

2- Equalize and adjust with a rake in order to create a leveled surface. Press the surface with a dry plaster float (dry it as often as possible with a rag soaked into solvent or LISSANT 103).

3- The matter can be adjusted for 1 hour, then it takes 8 to 10 hours for it to dry depending on ambient humidity.

4- Protect the surface from the public during this time.

5- The surface can be cleaned using paints solvent (Xylène, Toluène, Nettoyant 104 on demand). The cleaning is easier if you do not overdose on resin and if the mixing is well done.
