Sound absorptive barriers

In walls using wood fibres, the concrete is highly sound absorptive. It dissipates noise energy as it passes through the cavities in the wall. In a single-sided barrier, a wood fibred layer forms the surface and is supported by another solid concrete wall that prevents sound passing through the barrier and provides structural integrity. Barriers are usually precasted, in lengths of 4 to 5 m and can be 140 to 190 mm thick with colour incorporated.

Height and length :

The use of Agreslith instead of gravel in precasted concrete does not limit the size of the project. The taller the barrier, the greater the attenuation. Its length must extend the area to be protected to avoid its performance being compromised.

Location :

Agreslith can be used in any location and for every need. On level ground it is normally desirable to place barriers as close as possible to the noise source, but where roads and railways are in cuttings or embankments, placing the barrier further away at the top of the slope is usually the best solution

Aesthetic :

The specificity of wood fiber in a concrete mix allows the manufacturing of all kinds of designs. The optimum position for a barrier can be its most visible location. With barrier size increasing, it is essential that aesthetic issues are considered at an early stage in design.

Durability :

Walls made with Agreslith are significantly more durable than others made with traditionnal concrete.

Safety :

Concrete made with Agreslith wood fiber is strong and resistant.

Sustainability issues :

Agreslith does not contain chemicals that cannot be recycled or safely disposed of.

Our manufacturing unit is specially dedicated to the production of wood chips in standard sizes : 0/3mm, 4/10mm, 10/20mm or according to your needs. Our researches in partnership with the CRITT ensures a constant quality of the aggregate. We are able to produce any kind of wood chips in any size according to the characteristics of your project. Our quality department has different monitoring tools to measure the efficiency of the production by analyzing samples of end-products.

Properties :

Acoustic performance : The walls made with AGRESLITH are ranked A2, A3 and A4 according to the EN 1793-1 standard. They provide a sound reduction of approximately 50db.
Freeze thaw resistance : AGRESLITH concrete has passed the tests of thE NFP18424 standard with success (300 cycles of -18°C to 9°C in complete immersion).
Brine resistant : AGRESLITH concrete resists the aggression of de-icing salts (scaling test RA88-01).
Fire resistant : Certified M1 “non-flammable”

Specific indications for use

Manufacturers of noise barriers are customers or partners of Agresta Technologies. They generally use 2 different types of systems to build their structures.

Two-layers noise barriers : One structural layer of reinforced concrete maintains an absorbing and ribbed layer made with AGRESLITH® concrete. The two layers put together constitute now only one component that can be carried on site. Noise barriers are often set-up easily by interlocking in steel runners. They are mostly used along highways and railways.
Acoustic Correction Slabs: It consists in components made with AGRESLITH® concrete. The slabs are often made with a standard shape of 50x50cm or 100x100cm. It can be directly fixed on a wall. So they are basically screwed on an existing support.
